The Best Vinyl Wall Art for Your Playroom

dino decalVinyl wall art is the perfect solution for adding an extra “pop” to a playroom.  Not only is it easy to apply and remove, it can also be very affordable.  The ease of vinyl wall decals however it also their downfall.  All to often vinyl wall decals are thrown onto a wall without rhyme or reason, leading to room that looks as if it was attacked by giant stickers rather than decorated with “art.”  The key to creating art versus a wall-sized sticker book is to use fewer  larger decals rather than scattering several small ones.  A  larger scale wall decal on a prominent wall not only looks better, it is also more appealing to the eye as it prevents an already busy playroom from looking any busier.   A well-designed tree, animal or geometric design are almost always a safe bet, as compared to a set of smaller repeating objects (such as ladybugs, cars, circles, etc.).  When placing your decals try to choose a wall free of any other decor and preferable white or a neutral color.  If painting is in your plans, consider painting your decal wall white and the other walls your desired color.  While it may appear odd to have one wall a different color, once the decal is applied the eye is draw to the decal rather than the change in wall color.   Another option is to choose a decal that your child can play with, such as a road, city scape or castle.  With these designs be sure to put them close to the ground where kids can use wood blocks and/or figurines to build a play scene in front of the decal.  One final idea is to make your own decals.  Whether for a semi-permanent design or for a fun family activity, making your decals is easier than you might think.  The key to is to purchase Con-Tact paper and then simply cut into the desired shape.  Permanent Markers can also be used to “color” or add decorations to your decals.  This can be especially fun using clear Con-Tact paper.  For detailed instructions on how to make a your own geometric design click here.

Bottom Line:  Vinyl wall art is the perfect way to add some pizazz to your playroom but be sure to go large and simple.
